Airports with Service

Qantas is the flag carrier of Australia and one of the world's oldest airlines. It operates from a hub at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport - SYD, with domestic service operating under the CityFlyer moniker. Internationally, Qantas flies to every continent but Antarctica, with South American service to begin at the end of 2008. Flights to Europe (including the Sydney-London "Kangaroo Route") operate with one stop in southeast Asia. Flights to the eastern United States generally stop somewhere in California.

  • Meals and drinks are served on all long-haul flights.
  • All 747 and A330 planes are equipped with seat-back entertainment systems in all classes, including 60 on-demand movies

Oneworld travels to 600 destinations in 135 countries. Combined fleet of approximately 2,000 aircraft. 8 member airlines:

Taxes

Many times, advertised (or "published") airfares do not include government-imposed taxes. Put another way, the low price consumers first see is usually not what they will end up paying. See airline taxes for a current breakdown of domestic and international airfare taxes.

Fees

Many airlines have additional fees associated with booking or flying. Fees may include additional charges for booking tickets over the telephone or at city ticket offices, penalties for itinerary changes, or excess baggage fees.

Aussie AirPass

The AirPass can be an effective way to secure a better deal on airfare for a trip involving multiple stops with Australia. However, travelers should be aware that once purchased an AirPass cannot be modified. Moreover, travelers cannot cancel a purchased AirPass and book another one immediately in its place. This restriction is the necessary "cost" for the less expensive airfare.
