Taxes
Many times, advertised (or "published") airfares do not include government-imposed taxes. Put another way, the low price consumers first see is usually not what they will end up paying. See airline taxes for a current breakdown of domestic and international airfare taxes.
Fees
Many airlines have additional fees associated with booking or flying. Fees may include additional charges for booking tickets over the telephone or at city ticket offices, penalties for itinerary changes, or excess baggage fees.
Aussie AirPass
The AirPass can be an effective way to secure a better deal on airfare for a trip involving multiple stops with Australia. However, travelers should be aware that once purchased an AirPass cannot be modified. Moreover, travelers cannot cancel a purchased AirPass and book another one immediately in its place. This restriction is the necessary "cost" for the less expensive airfare.
